It seems winter has finally hit us! Here at Cloggs.co.uk we’re preparing for the worst – torrential rain. However, there is one saving grace – an excuse to buy Hunter wellies! We love this pair in particular, the Balmoral Lady Neo Boots in Dark Olive. These wellies are a high performance boot with a sculptured top and contrast colour piping. Winter boots are in full force this week in the office at Cloggs.co.uk! We are waving goodbye to our Havaianas and embracing our UGG and FitFlop boots! However, this winter there is a possible new winter boot favourite creeping into our wardrobes. Sorel footwear was previously sold to tire shops and farm supply stores, however today they have incorporated a whole new dimension to their brand. A new brand to Cloggs, Lacoste is getting everyone talking here at the office. Lacoste is a French apparel company founded by tennis star Rene Lacoste. The Brand sells high-end clothing, footwear, perfume, leather goods, watches, eyewear, and most famously, tennis and polo shirts. The company can be recognized by its iconic green crocodile logo which features on all of its products.

We LOVE the Andover style in dark red and white. We love its classic canvas court shoe style combined with a Lacoste retro twist. Here at cloggs.co.uk we've got some brand new image mock ups for you! Our first one features the brand new Hunter Culford Boot and our picks of an outfit it would look great with! The dress is from Topshop, by a designer called Love. It's called the Ella Crossover dress and features a rustic red floral print which ties in at the waist with a thin belt. We've teamed up the dress with a pair of metallic leggings, also from Topshop which are set to be a big hit this autumn/winter. The silver metallic coating detail is a quirky, new take on plain leggings or tights which we'd normal wear with this dress. To bring the outfit together we've selected (again from Topshop!) a black biker jacket which features a black quilted faux fur collar. Kurt Geiger To Launch In US

We've all been pretty excited that some of our shoes are going to be part of the fantastic Bullring Birmingham show The Dolls House. The show is taking place 28-29 May and will be showcasing some great designs focused around a summer theme, there is even a fruit salad based piece inspired by the legendary Stella McCartney. We're very excited to see what the other designs are going to be like, in the mean time we've been told by the Show's stylists what footwear they'd like to adorn their Dolls with.

We were expecting them to demand heels and some fierce Iron Fists but they've taken a more casual selection from our catalog. This funky Converse is one of the shoes we can reveal is part of the show:

This star and stripes inspired Converse has been one of the most popular styles over the past few months at Cloggs. It's all down to taking the classic 'chuck' high top look and twisting it with a stars and stripe motif.

Stars Donate Shoes For Charity

We are all giving people at Cloggs.co.uk, with us all recently sharing Easter eggs with one another. After the indulgent weekend, we are happy to hear that celebrities have also got in the philanthropic mood and have donated pairs of shoes to charity.

Celebrities such as our very own Sir Elton John and US stars Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton are just three of the big names who have taken part in the shoe drive with charity Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a US based charity that sources footwear from footwear companies and individual donors that can then be distributed and provided to people that are disadvantaged around the world. Since 2005, Soles4Souls says that they have given away over 13 million pairs of shoes, which equates to an impressive donation of one pair every 7 seconds.

The latest drive has seen celebrities donate signed shoes that will be sold in a charity auction. What could be better than a pair of Dr Martens signed by Elton John or a pair of FitFlop signed by Jessica Simpson! We are intrigued to find out what shoes the celebrities have donated, but regardless of the style or brand of shoes donated, we can all be happy in the knowledge that the stars are giving back to the community.

Converse & Givenchy Team Up

Again, more exciting news has arrived at Cloggs.co.uk this morning, with the announcement of the release of amazing new Converse trainers. These are no ordinary Converse though, these are Converse that have been made in collaboration with French fashion house Givenchy.

There were rumours about this collaboration last year, but the long awaited partnership has finally come to fruition. Converse has seen a number of collaborations in recent years, as well as releasing some fantastic Converse limited edition shoes. Some of the most successful include the DC Comics range of Converse which has flown off the shelves. This time the collaboration brings something different, with a heightened sense of class and luxury for Converse.

On behalf of Givenchy, Italian fashion designer, Riccardo Tisci is the man responsible for adding his fashion genius to the new Converse range. Tisci, is extremely well known for his love of gothic fashions, dramatic impact and minimalist designs. These are all qualities that can be seen in the Converse-Givenchy shoes that have been added to the Converse Addict line. The limited edition Converse is a pair of black, high impact high top Converse. Featuring a canvas upper, complete with a black leopard skin print, this pair of trainers oozes sophistication. Attention to detail has not been forgotten with intricate contrast detail piping as well as the stunning line of Givenchy studs that line the back of the shoes.

The Converse-Givenchy creation is set to retail at around about £220. However, this style is an exclusive for Japan, so don’t get your hopes up just yet to get your hands on a pair. Louboutin Claims the Colour Red

The footwear industry can sometimes be an extremely interesting and fast paced world, however we’ve just heard of quite a crazy news story at Cloggs.co.uk concerning world renowned Louboutin. Louboutin have issued a number of legal proceedings to prevent rivals from using red soles on shoes, which is seen as the signature of the Louboutin brand.

This may seem odd to many, as Louboutin is effectively claiming that red colour soles can only be used on Louboutin shoes exclusively. Louboutin currently has an American trademark on red soled shoes, but there seems to be some ambiguity on its application. Last week Louboutin filed a case against Yves Saint Laurent for allegedly copying Louboutin’s red sole on a new range of YSL shoes. This may also have something to do with the fact that the red soled YSL shoes in question are a snip at only around £300 a pair instead of the £1,000 price range for a pair of Louboutin shoes. This again suggests that Louboutin may be worried that consumers wanting a pair of Louboutin’s will turn to cheaper alternatives.

The latest brand that Louboutin has warned off for using red soles is Brazilian based Carmen Steffens. By contrast, the Brazilian brand is a much smaller player in the footwear industry than both YSL and Louboutin, so it seems surprising for legal action to be taken against them. In response Carmen Steffens insist that the use of different colours including red on soles has been used long before Louboutin.

However, surely Louboutin should put their minds at ease with the thought that customers would not only like generic red soled shoes, but also the unique shoe designs, heels and quality materials that are used to make a pair of Louboutin shoes?

A Year in a Pair of FitFlop Sandals

When my friend asked me to write this blog, I had absolutely no idea of what to write about. I spent around two weeks thinking on my walks home from work, walking to town to do the odd bit of shopping and walking to the local pub on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. And that’s when it hit me....I have been walking in my FitFlop Walkstars everywhere just lately!

As a 21 year old girl my friends had not heard of FitFlop before and did look at me as though I was a little crazy wearing flip flops in March. After explaining that these weren’t just some ordinary flip flop’s, I received rather dubious feedback; that was until I persuaded my best friend to spend the day in my shoes (literally). She soon changed her mind, as I suspected. The best part of it was explaining to her that I have had my FitFlop’s over a year now and yet they still look and feel wonderful.

My journey of FitFlop discovery began when I started working for Cloggs.co.uk, as a general sales assistant whilst studying for my degree in Birmingham, when I first saw and read about FitFlop’s. Like most people I instantly thought it was a hyped up fad that would pass within a few months, however after persuading myself to buy a pair just to test them out, I became a convert. The cushion like comfort bought to my feet after wearing heels for a weekend, has never made me so happy to walk to work on a Monday morning, as well as the freedom for my feet to expand rather than being squashed into a tiny pair of dolly shoes that allow me to feel every grain of stone under my feet, is definitely worth the price of these FitFlop’s. As well as this the benefits of wearing FitFlop compared to normal footwear are phenomenal, and I can really feel it when I’m walking, with increased muscle activity as a result of the Microwobbleboard technology, means that with every stride, my muscles are better aligned and work me harder to help me keep in shape (it beats going to the gym all the time).

Looking back on my year with my FitFlop Walkstar 3's it is hard to believe the terrain that they have suffered and to say that they are the most durable piece of footwear I own is an understatement. My FitFlop’s have gone through two holidays in the sun, including treacherous walks along the sea (and in the sea - FitFlops are not waterproof and are not made to be submerged in water; however mine seem to have lasted fine whilst walking along the Greek coastlines) and have had to endure my mother’s terrible feet when she borrowed them for her trip to Egypt. Therefore if anything I have to feel sorry for the conditions I have had to put these poor shoes through, never the less, a year later they are still here on my feet, under my desk, still ensuring I have that Monday morning relief from heels and helping my muscles stay better engaged with every step I take.

The Next Jimmy Choo?

FitFlop is a current favourite at Cloggs.co.uk with the sales of the fashion meets workout sandals being at their highest levels. The success of such a brand is due to the importance they place on style and staying up to date with current fashions. The FitFlop Fiorella for example was designed by Anna Sui, a designer with numerous followers in the fashion world.

In the world of shoes, it is always important to remember that they should be functional, but of course they need to look fantastic, unique and appealing. This is where designer names such as Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik come in, being brands that are synonymous with the highest levels of chic style. However, it seems that the community of shoe designing greats is about to increase with the introduction of up and coming new British designer Kerrie Luft.

Kerrie Luft, originally from Northampton has worked tirelessly to emulate the success of other fashion greats, by launching her own range of footwear. Luft says that she creates ‘distinctively feminine yet unique’ shoes. Just by having a peruse around Kerrie Luft’s website you can see the beautiful feminine designs, featuring elegant ornate heels. What makes Luft different is that she has a real passion not only for the designing, but also the manufacturing technologies. This has resulted in the 27 year old using 3D printing technology to create the unique stalk heels. Luft has just won the Fashion Fringe Award at Covent Garden Accessory Prize meaning that she will have an internship with top designer Roger Vivier in Paris.
